Hyundai’s N Vision 74 Concept Creates a Stir at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023
Hyundai Motor Company made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Lake Como, Italy, by unveiling their extraordinary N Vision 74 concept. This marked Hyundai’s inaugural presence at the renowned exhibition, which showcases classic cars and prototypes, captivating attendees from across the globe.
Unveiled in 2022, the N Vision 74 embodies Hyundai’s high-performance N brand and serves as a hydrogen fuel cell-hybrid “Rolling Lab.” Inspired by the iconic 1974 Pony Coupe Concept envisioned by legendary Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, this concept represents a fusion of Hyundai’s design heritage and state-of-the-art technology.
Hyundai Motor employs “Rolling Labs” to test and validate advanced technologies for future production models, aligning with their vision of leading the way in the era of zero-tailpipe emissions. The N Vision 74 encapsulates Hyundai’s long-term ambition for a sustainable and high-performing future beyond electrification, showcasing their commitment to excellence.
Featuring a unique hydrogen fuel cell hybrid architecture, the N Vision 74 combines the strengths of a battery motor and a hydrogen fuel cell system. Engineered for exceptional performance, it delivers a stable power output without experiencing the degradation often observed in electric vehicles during low state-of-charge conditions. With a quick recharge time of just 5 minutes, this distinctive hydrogen fuel cell hybrid architecture demonstrates the concept’s potential as a fully functional Rolling Lab.
Equipped with independent dual motors on the rear wheels, the N Vision 74 generates an impressive power output of 680 PS, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. Its power is derived from an 85 kW hydrogen fuel cell stack located at the front, a 62 kWh lithium-ion battery positioned between the driver and passenger, and two 2.1 kg hydrogen tanks situated at the rear, providing an impressive driving range of nearly 600 km.
Prior to its participation in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the N Vision 74 was showcased alongside a restoration of the Pony Coupe Concept at the Hyundai Reunion in Lake Como, where Hyundai celebrated its inaugural Heritage Project.
By presenting the retro-futuristic N Vision 74 at one of the world’s top three classic and concept car competitions, Hyundai Motor aimed to draw attention to both its design heritage and its vision for sustainable performance technology, solidifying its position as a pioneer in the automotive industry.
